Australian Cruise Academy is a cruise ship hosted extension of the Shore-based Aerie College Programs, supervised by the Aerie College staff.
We admit both Australian and International students as "special persons" to our full range of Supervised Graduate internships.
Enrolment can be accepted from students at Cert. 4 or Diploma level. Our focus is on Tourism, Hospitality, Care Services, and Maritime Seatime experience.
There is no limit to the time necessary to achieve the required competency in the supervised internship. Competency is not a function of time on the task.
Internship scholarship can last as long as is required for the students to gain competency so long as students' contributions to scholarship continue. Parchments indicate assessed competency, not experience time on tasks.
The greatest benefit of this program is the Captain and Principal's signed student log experience building the strength of their resumes.
Designated ship Officers are responsible to both the Academy Principal and the Ship's Captain to provide management of the students, and their relationship with the ship's crew and commercial passengers. Students are not permitted to enter Crew spaces or Passenger cabins except when they are under the mentoring supervision of a crew member. College Staff assessors will provide assessment and documentation with occasional ship visits. Documentation is to be completed online and sent to Aerie VET supervisors.
Students will wear the ship's student uniforms and Aerie Student name badges at all times when on rostered duty.
Quality casual clothes and name badges must be worn in the ship's public spaces during student leisure time.
During student free time, students sharing a cabin are required to maintain the safety and cleanliness of their cabin and their personal bed space to the satisfaction of their ship's Officer supervisor.
Rostered teams are also required to maintain the standards of the Academy space on the ships as required by their Academy masters. The expectations are high.
Students, 18 years or older seeking a scholarship with Australian Cruise Academy, are required to make an application for an Intern scholarship using a simple email application of supervised internship onboard to the Principal in a format similar to a job application, identifying their training strengths, their extension training experience requested, and all valid reasons why the internship scholarship is requested.
These reasons should indicate a specific career future expectation.
This scholarship provides both internship supervision and accommodation. All students are expected to make a financial donation to the Aerie College Scholarship fund. These contributions negotiated with the Principal are similar to onshore residential student boarding fees including the emergency bond funds.
There are extra fees for extension training coursework taken in addition to the general supervised experience internship.
